Identify the kind of error: Rule 71 A addresses clerical mistakes or oversight. Rule 71 B lists grounds including excusable neglect, qualifying newly discovered evidence, adverse-party fraud, voidness, and satisfaction or specified changed circumstances. Disagreement with the outcome is not itself one of those listed grounds.

Prepare the required motion and supporting record: Explain the ground and facts, and examine any requirement for an accompanying claim or defense pleading. The rule sets a reasonable-time requirement and an additional outer limit for certain grounds; do not treat that outer limit as permission to wait.

Serve and submit under the proper procedure: The service method and an appeal already pending can affect the process. Review the original judgment, notice of it, appeal status and court instructions before filing.

Address enforcement separately: A Rule 71 motion does not suspend the judgment’s operation. A stay requires its own legal basis or order; appellate and new-trial routes have their own requirements.
