Housing help in Oregon

Find a safe place to stay, help with rent, and a path to stable housing.

Start with the housing help you need

Explore 56 source guides, with Community Action intake assignments across all 36 Oregon counties.

Browse 17 county intake partners

These assignments follow the Community Action Partnership of Oregon directory linked by OHCS. Individual programs may use different service areas. Ask which intake route fits your situation.

Listings do not confirm an available bed, rental vacancy, open waitlist, voucher or assistance funding. Contact the provider before traveling or relying on help. OHCS and CAPO refer people to local partners; they do not provide direct client services. If you need shelter now, call 211 or use the housing and shelter referral directory.

Shelter and coordinated entry

For shelter needed now, start with 211 and the county intake partner. Ask about today's access, safe options for your household, pets, disability access and transportation. An assessment does not guarantee placement.

Affordable rentals and housing vouchers

Use the PHA directory for voucher and public-housing applications, and property search for building-specific applications. Check waitlists directly; HUD's locator does not show vacancies. HUD Oregon also links the USDA rural rental search.

Rent, deposits and utility bills

Ask your county partner which rent, move-in or utility assistance programs have current intake. Bring only the documents the provider requests. An aid application does not extend a court response date.

Disability and health-related housing support

Ask about accessibility, reasonable accommodations, program referrals and OHP health-related housing benefits. OHP benefits have specific health, living and financial conditions and are not emergency assistance.

Young people, families and students

Use the regional youth-provider directory and school homeless-education contact. Ask about age limits, safe shelter, foster-youth transition support, documents and staying enrolled.

Veterans and their families

Use VA or ODVA to ask about HUD-VASH, SSVF, transitional housing, emergency assistance and local referral requirements. Program descriptions do not establish eligibility or available space.

Survivors, discrimination and safer access

For domestic violence, use a safe device and ask the provider about confidential housing assistance. Ask qualified legal help about housing discrimination or immigration-related rental protections.

Housing after prison or a difficult rental history

Ask about tenant education, screening criteria and reentry referrals. Confirm supervision-related address requirements with your assigned office. An eviction judgment set-aside request is a separate legal process and does not guarantee rental approval.

Agricultural workers and families

Contact OHDC about agricultural-worker and low-income criteria, rent assistance and the appropriate local intake route. Confirm available funding before relying on help.

Homeowners and foreclosure prevention

Contact a housing counselor about mortgage trouble, foreclosure notices or home repair options. Confirm current programs; counseling does not automatically pause a legal proceeding.

Eviction, notices and tenant legal help

Keep the lease, notices, rent history and court papers together. Check the actual court instructions and contact legal help promptly about a response; housing searches and assistance applications are separate tasks.
