How to apply: start, prepare, submit and follow up
Amount or support
Loans up to $50,000; intermediary sets terms.
Start here: Open SBA's List of Microlenders, select Oregon, and contact an approved intermediary serving your business location. Discuss the amount and proposed use before preparing that lender's application.
1. Is this for me?
Small businesses and certain nonprofit child-care centers; lender underwriting and SBA restrictions apply.
Service area: Oregon; confirm program-specific location and institution requirements.
2. What should I prepare?
Some documents may be conditional. Ask about alternatives. Checkmarks are temporary and are not saved or sent.
3. Where and how do I submit?
Apply directly to the selected SBA-approved intermediary lender through its own application process. SBA supplies funds to intermediaries; the intermediary makes the credit decision and sets the borrower terms.
- Use the SBA microlender list and select Oregon.
- Contact an intermediary serving your location to discuss use of funds.
- Complete that lender’s application and underwriting requirements.
- Review its interest, fees and repayment terms before signing.
Timing: No fixed deadline stated in reviewed guidance; ask the provider about current intake and funds.
4. What will it cost?
The loan must be repaid with interest. SBA states that interest rates vary by intermediary and are generally 8% to 13%; the maximum repayment term is seven years. Application or closing fees are not verified; ask the lender for its written fee schedule.
5. What happens after I submit?
Continue with the intermediary for its underwriting requirements and credit decision. Review the offered interest and repayment terms before signing. Existing borrowers should contact their microlender directly about balances, payment dates or account questions.
6. What if something goes wrong?
Tell the intermediary how you intend to spend the money: SBA microloans cannot pay existing debt or buy real estate. If you need help with the application or disagree with the lender's decision, contact that intermediary; the reviewed SBA overview gives no borrower reconsideration procedure.
Language, disability and offline help
Use the official microlender directory to find lender contact information. SBA identifies intermediaries as community organizations providing lending and technical assistance; ask the chosen lender what application assistance it offers.
Not a grant; cannot be used for real-estate purchase or paying existing debts. The lender decides credit approval.
