Check whether an eviction was sealed or request a set-aside
Oregon Judicial Department · Shared Oregon or applicable federal route
Check automatic sealing, request proof, and find the motion route when eligible records remain public.
Where and how to proceed: prepare, file and follow up
Start here: Read the eligibility chart linked by OJD and identify your judgment date and case outcome.
1. Is this for me?
People with an Oregon residential eviction case. Automatic and motion-based eligibility differ; justice courts are separate from state circuit courts.
Service area: Oregon or applicable federal route; confirm venue and agency jurisdiction.
2. What should I prepare?
Some documents may be conditional. Ask about alternatives. Checkmarks are temporary and are not saved or sent.
3. Where and how do I submit?
Read the linked publisher instructions to confirm the receiving office, accepted submission method and current forms. This page has not separately verified those details. A county filter does not decide the correct court or filing location.
- Read the eligibility chart linked by OJD and identify your judgment date and case outcome.
- Search the free OJD online records system using the case number or name used at the time.
- If a case is absent and you need confirmation, use the linked Order Request Form to ask for a copy of the sealing order.
- If it remains listed, review the Motion to Set Aside Residential Eviction Judgment instructions with legal help rather than assuming the case is ineligible.
- File any motion through the court that handled the case; contact the justice court directly if it was a justice-court case.
- If a sealed case remains on a private background report, obtain the order and ask the report provider to correct its information.
Timing: OJD says eligible automatic set-asides are processed annually in December. Verify current processing status and motion eligibility; no immediate result is promised.

Details to confirm with the provider
Keep a copy of what you send and its confirmation or receipt. Ask the receiving office how to track it, when to expect a response and how it will request missing information. These follow-up details have not been separately verified for this route.
6. What if something goes wrong?
Details to confirm with the provider
Read any returned filing, correction request or denial notice promptly. Ask the responsible office for the correction, review or appeal instructions and the deadline that applies to your notice. This guide does not verify a route-specific appeal process.
Language, disability and offline help
Ask the receiving office about language assistance, disability accommodations and an alternative to online submission. Available options have not been separately verified for this route.
The source still includes historical backlog estimates from 2024-25; these are not treated as current completion dates. Courts cannot control every private background database.
